Engineered wood floors can go directly on concrete (condos, basements) and can be glued over an acoustic membrane or radiant heat. They are built differently from one supplier to another but all have a real hardwood layer on top. Depending on the product and type of installation, most can be resanded.

They are very stable floor so if you are going for the wide board look, there are definitely your best option. More product are available for these circomstances, such as cork and leather planks, porcelain tiles, etc.
